Thailand revamps air, bus and boat travel services from July 21

Latest round of COVID-19 restrictions suspend air, boat and bus services; some continue as usual.

Updates on Interprovincial Air, Bus and Boat Travel to Thailand Following the Latest Round of COVID-19 Restrictions for Maximum and Strict Controlled Areas or ‘Dark Red Zone’ Provinces in Effect for 14 days from Wednesday July 21, 2021.

Some transport services have been affected, either by rescheduling or suspension, as follows:

Flight
Bangkok Airways
Bangkok Airways has confirmed the operation of domestic flights until July 20, 2021. Following this, there will be the postponement until further notice of certain domestic routes, which were scheduled to resume on August 1, 2021. These include: Bangkok -Chiang Mai (vv), Bangkok-Phuket (vv), Bangkok-Sukhothai (vv), Bangkok-Lampang (vv) and Bangkok-Trat (vv). Regular Bangkok-Samui flights will be temporarily suspended from July 21, 2021.

The following flights will continue to operate normally:
-Bangkok-Samui: three daily sealed flights serving international transit / transfer passengers visiting Samui under the “Samui Plus” program.
-Samui-Phuket: four weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday to support the “Phuket Sandbox” project.

Passengers affected by temporary flight suspensions may be granted a waiver of the reservation modification fee, or they may also request a refund in the form of a travel voucher to be used for future tickets. Nok Air
Nok Air has announced that it will continue to operate flights from July 19 to 20, 2021, while for flights from July 21, 2021, passengers are advised to check flight schedules, book flights and manage reservations from the QR code below.

For passengers scheduled to travel from July 21 to July 31, 2021, Nok Air maintains an automatic credit card limit in the ticket. The following terms and conditions apply:

-Can be used for all types of tickets.
-The credit card limit in the ticket can be maintained until March 31, 2022.
-In the event that the new ticket price is higher than the original price, the passenger must pay the difference. The new travel date must be before March 31, 2022.
-In case the passenger wishes to use the credit shell, tickets can be booked through the Nok Air 1318 call center and the Nok Air sales booth.

Thai Lion Air
Thai Lion Air has announced that it will continue to operate domestic flights until July 20, 2021.

Thai smile airways
THAI Smile Airways has announced the temporary suspension of service on all domestic flights from July 21 to August 3, 2021 (14 days). In addition, all flights to Phuket and Hat Yai will be operated until July 20, 2021.

Passengers holding tickets to travel from July 21 to August 3, 2021, can choose from one of the following options:
– Flight date or itinerary change: a flight change must be requested 4 hours before your initial departure time with no change fees.
– Refund request: A full refund in the form of an EMD credit can be requested in which passengers can keep the value of their fare in a credit account for their future travel (expires in 365 days after EMD approval) .

Thai Vietjet Air has confirmed the temporary suspension of its domestic services from July 21 to August 1, 2021.

Passengers holding tickets for domestic travel to / from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport between July 21 and August 31, 2021, regardless of the booking period, can choose one of the following options:
-Free flight date change for one time (new travel date must be before December 31, 2021) subject to flight availability and no rerouting allowed. Blackout dates of August 12 to 15, October 13 and 23 to 25, November 18 to 21, December 4 to 6, December 10 to 12 and December 25 to 31, 2021 apply.
-Keep the value of the ticket as a credit envelope, which is valid for 90 days from the original travel date.

Bus trip
The Transport Co., Ltd. announced its operations from July 13 to 20, 2021, as follows:
– Ten northeast and east routes have been reduced to 5 routes (round trip) per day. These being: Bangkok-Nakhon Phanom, Bangkok-Loei-Chiang Khan, Bangkok-Surin, Bangkok-Sangkha-Khukhan-Kantharalak-Det Udom-Ubon Ratchathani and Bangkok-Rattanaburi.
-Three bus lines from Bangkok in northern Thailand provide 1 round trip service per day. These being: Bangkok-Khlong Lan, Bangkok-Lom Kao and Bangkok-Uttaradit.
-The service on all southern routes has been stopped.

Passengers who book tickets in advance can request a postponement of their trip or return the ticket at the full price without deduction of fees at the ticket office at the bus station at least 3 hours before departure. Reimbursement is not available for passengers using a social security card (well-being step).

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced the adjustment of its rail services, from July 11 to 25, 2021, as follows:
-Suspension of 10 long-distance round-trip commercial train services: Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Bangkok-Kantang, Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat, Bangkok-Nong Khai (from July 12) and Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani.
-Suspension of 20 urban and local train services.
-Adjustment of timetables and destinations for 8 train services: North Line: Bangkok-Chiang Mai and Chiang Mai-Bangkok; South Line: Bangkok-Su-ngai Kolok changed to Bangkok-Thung Song and Su-ngai Kolok-Bangkok changed to Thung Song-Bangkok; Northeast line: Bangkok-Nong Khai, Nong Khai-Bangkok, Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani and Ubon Ratchathani-Bangkok.
