Peterborough’s online travel agent Sunny Heart Travel returns to the high street with the launch of retail stores

A recruitment campaign has been launched to find four people initially with other jobs to be created soon.

The move comes about 22 months after Managing Director Steve Bentzen, former Thomas Cook IT Program Manager, set up Sunny Heart Travel with former Thomas Cook IT Project Manager Jemma Sharman, who is Director of information.

Mr Bentzen said: “We have just signed an agreement with Beales department stores to open a chain of new Sunny Heart travel stores.

“We have a lot of combined experience in store renovations and the fit-out has started in earnest.

“Of course the most important factor is the staff and we urge anyone with retail experience to contact us immediately as we are interviewing at this time.

“The first place is Peterborough, where our journey began. It will be followed closely by Poole and Southport.

Former Thomas Cook IT program manager Steve Bentzen is chief executive and former Thomas Cook IT project manager Jemma Sharman is chief information officer.

Mr. Bentzen added: “E-commerce has gotten us through the pandemic, but for me, online is a bit like a band not playing live.

“It’s important to meet your customers and put on a friendly face to give them confidence that they always have someone helpful on hand to solve their problems.

“I think now more than ever we are judged on customer service rather than price.

“We are very excited about the next phase of our development, our plans have been slowed down by the Covid-19 pandemic, but we have always stuck to the vision and are so happy that it has now become a reality.”
