Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said Pakistan earned $ 264.254 million by providing various travel services to various countries in the first half of the current 2019-2020 fiscal year.
This shows growth of 29.49% from $ 204.070 million. The same services were provided during the corresponding period of fiscal year 2018-19, added PSB.
During the period under review, personal travel services grew by 29.91%, from $ 201.220 million last year to $ 261.404 million in July-December (2019-20).
Among these personal services, exports of education-related expenditure and personal expenditure fell by 32.19% and 70.10% respectively.
Exports of surgical products and medical instruments increase by 9.56%
In addition, other personal services increased by 34.33, among which religious services and other travel services grew by 171.20 and 34.19% respectively.
On the other hand, business services exports remained the same, exported worth $ 2.850 million in July-December (2019-20), PBS data revealed.
It is relevant to mention here that the country’s services trade deficit in the first half of the current fiscal year decreased by 17.46% compared to the corresponding period last year.
During the period July-December 2019-20, exports of services increased by 6.11%, while imports decreased by 4.67%, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Services worth $ 2.738 billion exported during the period under review compared to exports of $ 2.580 billion during the same period last year, while imports of services into the country increased were recorded at $ 4.533 billion against imports of $ 4.755 billion, the data revealed.
