An Ayrshire travel agent celebrates a special milestone with a generous gift.

It’s party time as the Kilmarnock branch of Stewart Travel celebrates the company’s 50th anniversary in style – by giving away £10,000 worth of holiday vouchers.

To mark the occasion, staff celebrated with cake and bubbly and launched a raffle giving one lucky guest the chance to win a £5,000 holiday. Fifty finalists will win a £100 holiday voucher, bringing the total giveaway to £10,000.

Registrations are open until Wednesday 31 August and vouchers can be used as full or partial payment for any holiday package. Stewart Travel is also offering £50 off all stays booked by the end of June.

And business is “busier than ever” according to the company’s director of retail, Linda Boyd.

In 1972, when the company’s first store opened in Prestwick, Donny Osmond topped the charts, Marlon Brando starred in The Godfather and Ceylan was rebranded as Sri Lanka.

Taking a trip down memory lane, boss Linda said: ‘It’s hard to believe but in those days you could have chosen an all inclusive holiday for just £50 a head and the bell bottoms and the miniskirts were all the rage.”

But she said: “While fashion may have changed, some things remain the same, our award-winning trips are always here to reduce clutter and help find customers the perfect vacation.”

Stewart Travel won Best Independent Travel Agency at the consumer-voted British Travel Awards 2019; best street travel agency at the last awards in 2020, and hopes to strike gold again in this 50th year.

Linda added: “We are busier than ever right now. But we are also particularly proud that each branch has become part of their community.
