BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WIAT) – Millions of Americans are traveling this holiday season as COVID-19 cases are on the rise fueled by the omicron variant.
Classic Travel Connection owner Christen Perry said her business recorded only about 5% of cancellations due to the virus. This year alone, his business has seen a 10% increase over 2019.
When planning a trip in the midst of the pandemic, Classic Travel Connection’s goal remains to help its customers select places that will work with them in the event of COVID-19 issues. Perry says it’s important because all international travelers now require people to test negative for Covid before returning to the United States
Perry says there are many concerns about the safety of the cruise as a travel option. She says for people who choose to travel overseas, it’s a very different conversation about risk versus reward. It does not encourage unvaccinated persons to travel on a cruise regardless of the requirements of the cruise.
âWe are very specific about what you can do if you are vaccinated. These are things you cannot do if you are not vaccinated. But there is nothing more cruise lines can do than they do. They require you to be vaccinated, requiring you to have a negative COVID test before you even get there, by taking another test at the port, âPerry said.
Perry’s projections for travel booking trips in 2022 are dramatically up. However, she says COVID-19 will always affect her business and the travel industry in general.
